Missionary Day

Missionary Day at Camp Sychar is the day that we focus on Missions in each of our services.  This focus is marked with messages from many of our "on-the-grounds" Missionaries.

Our MISSIONARY DAY FESTIVAL is in the afternoon on Missionary Day and is an event that began several years ago as a way to get younger campers excited about the day. This year's Missions Festival will be held from 1:30-3:30 pm.  We will have meet and greet locations with many different missionaries and missions organizations, games, food, and the ever popular silent auction. (Please see the bottom of this page for auction details.) This family-friendly event has become one of the highlights of Missionary Day so please join us - even if just for this day.

  • Carl and Teresa Poynter - OMS

Carl and Teresa were accepted by One Mission Society (OMS) in May of 2010 as career missionaries. In November of 2012, Carl and Teresa began serving in Ohio as regional directors with Men for Missions (MFM is a ministry of OMS). Our desire is to encourage others to do, go, and give whatever God asks, all to fulfill the Great Commission and to strengthen their walk with Christ.

We both have a burden to see souls saved and to glorify God. As regional directors, we develop contacts between churches, MFM groups, and other Christian organizations, providing communications about OMS activities to churches and individuals. We distribute monthly updates and quarterly newsletters to ministry partners, recruit people to fill ministry teams, and OMS long-term mission positions. We also enjoy leading short-term ministry teams around the world to support OMS ministries. And on occasion, we have the opportunity to lead church services for pastors and churches as requested.

Carl took his first one-week mission trip to Haiti in 2009. Carl and Teresa followed the Lord to Spain and then on to Haiti in 2012. Since then, Carl has led trips to Haiti, Colombia, and Japan. Carl and Teresa took many trips to lead teams and help build homes in Haiti. God then provided them opportunities to build churches in Bon Repos, Haiti, (2015 thru 2016) and then in Kochi, Japan, (2017 thru 2019).

Meanwhile, in 2013, Carl started traveling to Colombia for one-week trips for evangelism. He made several trips to Colombia and witnessed many people pray to make Jesus their Savior between 2013 and 2019. In 2019, Carl joined a team for a week of evangelism to Colombia with Teresa and their son Justin, as well as others from the USA. As of September 2018, Carl and Teresa have returned to the role of regional directors with Men for Missions. Our sons are adults now. Our oldest, Curtis, lives in Montana, and our youngest, Justin, just graduated from high school and lives in Ohio with us.

  • Holly Muehleisen - WGM

Growing up in Kenya as the daughter of WGM missionaries, I never imagined I’d one day be called to missions myself. During my final year of college, God made it clear that I was to serve in cross-cultural ministry alongside a national church—but not in Kenya.

Through seminary, God stirred my heart for Japan, where I served for 14 years, launching creative outreach programs and teaching in the Fun Fun English ministry to reach children and families.

In 2024, God redirected my path again—this time, back to Kenya. Now, I am returning to partner with Africa Gospel Church to develop quality biblical curriculum and equip believers to disciple children in their churches and communities.

Would you join me in this mission to raise up the next generation of Christ-followers in Kenya?

Missions Silent Auction

Once again we will have the silent auction during the Missionary Day Festival.  We are looking for auction items to be donated. You can make a themed gift basket such as "Bar-B-Que" or "Kids" basket. Get creative or look online for ideas!

Are you crafty? Do you make items? We would love to auction your homemade items! We had some amazing hand-made pieces in the past!

Own a business? Do you provide services? With your generosity, we would love to partner with you and auction off your services!

Please contact Rebecca Conley to donate items or services to our Missions Silent Auction!

The auction will begin following the 10:30AM service. Please bring any items
you are donating to the auction area by that time
(The auction area will be
determined by the weather and will be either outside of the tabernacle or in the
back of the tabernacle). We are excited to see what creativity you bring and to raise
funds for missions work around the globe!
