Missionary Day
Missionary Day at Camp Sychar is the day that we focus on Missions in each of our services. This focus is marked with messages from many of our "on-the-grounds" Missionaries.
Our MISSIONARY DAY FESTIVAL is in the afternoon on Missionary Day and is an event that began several years ago as a way to get younger campers excited about the day. This year's Missions Festival will be held from 1:30-3:30 pm. We will have meet and greet locations with many different missionaries and missions organizations, games, food, and the ever popular silent auction. (Please see the bottom of this page for auction details.) This family-friendly event has become one of the highlights of Missionary Day so please join us - even if just for this day.

Kurt and Cynthia Zimmerman - WGM
Kurt and Cynthia serve with WGM on the Texas/Mexico Border. After years of teaching in schools in Kentucky, Kurt and Cynthia sensed a calling from the Lord to be missionary teachers. They worked in Bolivia for 24 years and came to Texas to teach at Taylor Christian School. The school is now closed, and the focus is a community center ministry that reaches a broader segment of the population in the Rio Grande Valley.
Kurt is now working as Director ofTaylor Community Center (TCC), and Cynthia is the Administrative Assistant to the Director of TCC, as well as the Assistant Team Leader. Ministries in the Taylor Community Center include the Sparrow's Nest clothing ministry, a pastoral prayer time for local pastors, sports camps/soccer academy, youth night events, ladies’ workshops, Bible studies, and senior adult bingo gatherings. New ministries include the pottery ministry, English classes, crochet ministry, and they are soon to have a coffee shop ministry. There is also a music school and a pregnancy resource center on site.

Ron Brown - Christian Medical & Dental Association
Ron was born to missionary parents who served on the Texas/Mexico border and Honduras. He developed a burden for missionary kids and majored in biology and secondary education at Asbury College. Ron completed a master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling at Eastern Kentucky University and has done graduate study at Fuller Seminary’s School of World Mission in Pasadena, CA.
He has been married to his lovely wife Becky for 52 years. Together they served ten years with Native Americans in Arizona, six years in Spain and six years doing recruitment for World Gospel Mission on the campus of Asbury College and Seminary. They have four married children ages 50, 48, 46, 34, and 9 grandkids.
Since joining Christian Medical & Dental Association (CMDA) in June 1999, Ron assumed responsibility with the Global Health Outreach (GHO) department for the Latin American outreaches, with a special focus on Honduras and the mobile medical unit ministry. In 2007 the focus moved from Honduras to Nicaragua where 10 out of the fifty plus teams GHO sends each year will go. He has led GHO teams to Latin America, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, N Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East. Ron continues to train future team leaders, as well as recruit and organize for the other teams, with the GHO support staff.
Teaching, administration, counseling, mentoring and recruiting have been Ron’s heart in ministry. Ron has traveled to over 40 countries on mission trips with World Gospel Mission and GHO.
Ron continues to serve with CMDA 1/2 time, raising his salary through amazing family and friends, some going back for 50 years. He leads one GHO team a year, does life coaching, is an Ambassador for CMDA and is involved with the CMDA chapters at the U of Ky and U of Louisville medical/ dental schools. Our home and lives continue to host and engage the next generation for fulfilling the Great Commission.

Missions Silent Auction
Once again we will have the silent auction during the Missionary Day Festival. We are looking for auction items to be donated. You can make a themed gift basket such as "Bar-B-Que" or "Kids" basket. Get creative or look online for ideas!
Are you crafty? Do you make items? We would love to auction your homemade items! We had some amazing hand-made pieces in the past!
Own a business? Do you provide services? With your generosity, we would love to partner with you and auction off your services!
Please contact Rebecca Conley to donate items or services to our Missions Silent Auction!
The auction will begin following the 10:30AM service. Please bring any items
you are donating to the auction area by that time (The auction area will be
determined by the weather and will be either outside of the tabernacle or in the
back of the tabernacle). We are excited to see what creativity you bring and to raise
funds for missions work around the globe!
